At a ceremonial gala which took place on 12th November at the Dent-a-Medical dental clinic in Warsaw, the awards for the Most Beautiful Smile of 2008 were presented for the first time. Nominated for awards were the stars of Polish show business boasting the most beautiful smiles. The award for the most beautiful smile in a woman was won by Aleksandra Woźniak, among men Bogusław Mec emerged victorious, and in the couples category Magdalena Wołłejko and Piotr Polk took the title.
The gala award ceremony for the most beautiful smile in Polish show business gained in splendour with a concert by Halina Kunicka and Czesław Majewski. Over 150 people took part in the event, later enjoying themselves to the music of Piotr Rodowicz.
This was the first edition of the contest, yet seeing the interest of stars and the media we have already taken the decision to continue it in subsequent years. Poland is a country in which healthy and well-presented teeth are becoming very important, and it was precisely for this reason that we decided on the promotion of their care by inviting Polish celebrities to the contest. Giving an award for healthy teeth alone would be very difficult. Our jury was concerned for something considerably more important – the combination of a beautiful smile with the beauty flowing from being a human. Of importance too is the educational value of the contest: stars of the screen are after all a certain type of role model, both for young people and for adults. – says Mariusz Andrych, Chairman of the Dent-a-Medical Board.
The nominations were made by a chapter composed of dentists, internationally recognised specialists led by Dr Mariusz Andrych MD, PhD, Chairman of Dent-a-Medical.
The chapter sought a combination of a healthy smile with inner beauty, a smile meaning more than a healthy appearance.
